Terms of service
Last updated:
These terms are the agreement between Line20 BV and the organisation that uses Line20. By creating an account or using the service you accept them on behalf of that organisation. Line20 is made for businesses; it is not offered to consumers.
How we handle personal data is described in ourprivacy notice.
Who we are
Line20 is provided by Line20 BV, enterprise number BE 0822.003.437, registered at Berlarij 9, 2500 Lier, Belgium. In these terms “we” and “us” mean that company, and “you” means the organisation that holds the account.
The service
Line20 is online business software — invoicing, purchasing, sales, production and related tools — that you use through a web browser and, where we offer it, through our API. Which features you have depends on your plan; the current plans and what each includes are on our pricing page.
We improve the service continuously. We may add, change or retire features. If we remove something a paid plan includes in a way that matters to you, we will tell you in advance and, if you cannot reasonably work without it, you may end the agreement and receive a refund for the period you paid for but cannot use.
Your account
The person who creates the account must be authorised to bind the organisation. You are responsible for the people you invite, for what they do in your account, and for keeping credentials and API keys secret. Tell us promptly if you suspect an account has been compromised.
Give us accurate details about your organisation and keep them up to date — they appear on the invoices you send.
Plans, documents and payment
Each plan includes a number of documents per month — for example, an invoice you send or a supplier invoice or receipt we process for you. The allowance and the price are shown on the pricing page at the time you choose or change a plan. Prices exclude VAT unless stated otherwise.
On the free plan the allowance is a hard limit: once it is used up, further documents are refused until the next month, and we never charge for going over. On paid plans, what happens beyond the allowance is described on the pricing page; we will not bill you for anything that page does not say we will.
Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly, and renew automatically until you cancel. You can change plan or cancel in the app at any time; a cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid, and we do not refund part of a period unless these terms say so. We send an invoice for every payment. If a payment fails, we will tell you and try again; if it stays unpaid we may suspend the service after giving you reasonable notice.
Invoices are payable within 15 days of the invoice date unless you paid at checkout. Amounts not paid on time carry interest at the rate of the Belgian law of 2 August 2002 on combating late payment in commercial transactions, plus the reasonable costs of collecting them. If you disagree with an invoice, tell us why within 14 days of the invoice date; after that it is considered accepted. Pay the undisputed part in the meantime.
We may change prices. We will tell you at least 30 days before a change affects you, and you may cancel before it takes effect.
What we ask of you
Use the service lawfully and for your own business. Do not try to break, overload or reverse-engineer it, do not get around the limits of your plan, and do not use it to send unlawful, fraudulent or abusive content or to harass anyone. Do not resell access to the service without our written agreement.
Upload only business and accounting documents and data that you are entitled to use. Do not upload anything unlawful or infringing, and do not upload sensitive personal data or private household data that has nothing to do with your business.
You are responsible for the content of your documents, for the accuracy of what you issue to your own customers and authorities, and for complying with the accounting, tax and e-invoicing rules that apply to you. The service helps you capture and send documents; it does not replace your accountant’s or your own legal responsibility.
Your data
Your data stays yours. You give us the right to store and process it only as far as needed to provide the service to you. We do not sell it, and we do not use it to train AI models. When a provider reads a document for us (for example to extract the text of an uploaded invoice), it does so only to return the result to us.
Where your data contains personal data — about your customers, suppliers and staff — you decide why and how it is used, and we process it on your behalf as your processor. A data-processing agreement is part of these terms and is available on request at privacy@line20.be. How we handle personal data in our own right is described in our privacy notice.
You can export your data while your account is active. After the agreement ends we keep it for 30 days so you can retrieve it, and then delete it, except where the law requires us to keep something longer.
We host in the European Union and rely on a small number of sub-processors, such as for sending email, processing payments and, where you use it, reading documents. We bind them to equivalent data-protection obligations.
Third-party services
Some features depend on outside providers — for example the Peppol network for e-invoicing, payment providers, and public registers such as the Belgian business register or VIES. We choose them with care, but we do not control them: if one is unavailable or changes, the feature that relies on it may be too, and we are not responsible for what the provider does.
AI assistants
You can connect an AI assistant to Line20 so that it works in your account for you. When you do, it signs in as the person who connected it and can do only what that person is allowed to do, and only in the organisations and modules that person approved. That person can disconnect it at any time, and access ends the next time it tries.
What an assistant does through your account counts as done by you, just like what a colleague does. You are responsible for checking what it creates or sends — an invoice it issues is your invoice. The limits of your plan and the rules under “What we ask of you” apply to assistants too, and you may not use one to get around them.
The assistant is a service of a third party that you choose. Once you connect it, what it receives from your account is handled under that provider’s terms, not ours, and we are not responsible for what the provider does with it.
Availability and support
We work to keep the service running and to schedule maintenance when it disturbs you least, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Your data is backed up continuously, so that we can restore it to an earlier point in time if something goes wrong. Support is by email and is provided on a reasonable-efforts basis; the plan you are on may affect how quickly we reply.
Intellectual property
Line20, its software, design and documentation belong to us or our licensors. While your agreement is in force we give you a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use it for your own business. You keep all rights in your own data and content.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for intent, fraud or gross negligence.
Beyond that, we are liable only for direct damage caused by our fault, and not for indirect or consequential loss such as lost profit, lost revenue, lost opportunities or the cost of correcting your accounts. Our total liability for everything arising in a given year is capped at the fees you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the event that gave rise to the claim — or, on the free plan, at EUR 50.
We are not liable for damage caused by your own systems or actions, by the information you give us, by a failure to keep your credentials secure, by use of the service that breaks these terms, or by third-party software and services, even when you use them together with ours. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot do without.
You remain responsible for checking that the documents you issue are correct before you send them.
Ending the agreement
You may stop using the service and cancel at any time, as described under payment. We may end the agreement, or suspend your account, if you seriously or repeatedly breach these terms, if payment stays outstanding after notice, or if the law requires it — and we will explain why. We may also suspend an account straight away, and only for as long as needed, if it threatens the security or stability of the service or is being used for unlawful transactions. If we end a paid plan without cause, we refund the part of the period you paid for but did not get.
Rights and duties that are meant to outlast the agreement — such as payment owed, liability and confidentiality — do so.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will tell you in the app or by email at least 30 days before a change that is not in your favour takes effect. If you do not agree, you may cancel before then; if you keep using the service afterwards, the new terms apply.
General
Neither of us is liable for a failure to perform that is caused by circumstances reasonably beyond our control, such as natural disasters, cyber-attacks, power or network failures, or government action. A payment you owe is not excused by this. The side affected must tell the other promptly. If the disruption lasts 90 days or more, either of us may end the agreement.
If a provision of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest stays in force. We may transfer the agreement to a company that takes over our business; you may not transfer it without our written agreement. These terms, together with the pricing page and any data-processing agreement, are the whole agreement between us.
We send notices to the email address of your account, and you can reach us at info@line20.be. A notice by email counts as received the next working day. You cancel through the app.
Governing law and disputes
Belgian law governs these terms. We will first try in good faith to settle any dispute between us. If that fails, the courts of Antwerp (Antwerp division) have exclusive jurisdiction.
